Google announced it will replace its current Universal Analytics with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) on July 1st, 2024. This means that Google Analytics will only collect website visitor data after July 1st if you have a plan.

So what is GA4? GA4 isn’t just an upgrade to the existing Google Analytics platform. Instead, it’s a completely redesigned system that will help website owners comply with new regulations, learn more about their website visitors, and help you reach your traffic goals. In addition, GA4 will provide more advanced insights into your customers’ journey across various devices and channels and predict their behavior. Overall, this new platform will allow you to create a better experience for your customers, improve your marketing, and meet your customers where they are.

How can you prepare for this change? It would be easy to believe that the transition from Universal Analytics to GA4 is a simple process, but it’s much more complicated for a few reasons. GA4 captures and stores data differently than Universal Analytics, so your web data needs to be optimized to reach the new platform. There are a few ways that you can begin preparing for the transition:

  1. Back up your Universal Analytics Data now so you don’t lose your web traffic history.
  2. Reassess your 2023 online goals and consider how your website can be optimized to achieve them.
  3. Schedule a meeting with Westvyne to discuss your GA4 migration.
